Top Speed?

So today I decided to test the top speed of my prelude. I got it up to a little over 130 but it wouldn't go any faster then that. Is something wrong with my prelude? I saw a youtube video of someone getting one up to 150mph stock. I had two people in the car with me, both of them probably weighed a buck 50 each and the windows were down. I was thinking it might have been the extra weight and the windows down . To me it doesn't seem like that would cause it to lose 20mph of its top speed. Also I was driving on flat land in Tennessee, I live in a valley so it shouldn't be that high of an altitude.

I would venture to say it can go faster. I did something similiar for a brief spurt in my Integra a couple years back and it did 125. The integra has only 146 hp...and mine was an auto. The windows being down miiiight have had something to do with it, but don't quote me on that. What do you keep in your car? and is it an auto or a stick?

Re: Top Speed?

Keep in mind, at speeds that high, your speedo is off +/- 10% of your actual speed. I believe the listed top speed is 147mph. That's in the Helms for the 4G H22. I would go doublecheck for you, but I don't feel like trekking out to the garage.

It's a stick, and I have a ten inch sub in the back, but other than that and the people that's about it.

Yeah I also have 17's on it so I know it was off a little, maybe 5mph at most, from that.

The larger wheel diameter, the higher the top speed will be. And I'd be willing to bet 5mph is a little low. Considering speedo's aren't real accurate to begin with, and when you change wheel diameter, that skews it even more.

this is how you tell your highest speed:
1. find a police scanner telling you "your speed"
2. go in reverse as far as you can.
3. stay alert
4. floor it :3
yeah. depends on how much weight is in the car and tire.
i mean in a truck you can be pushing crazy ass 400 hp but still couldnt catch up to lil 4 cyls

Aerodynamics does play a large role, your windows being down plus the extra weight prolly slowed you down. Also, be careful pushing those kinds of speeds, thats how my buddy spun a crank bearing.

Ok, am i the only one that thinks this is the dumbest thing you could do. Not only are you driving way too fast with other people on the road but you have two friends in the car. This is one of the riskiest things you can do, you never now when a tire could blow or something is in the road or maybe a animal jumps out in front of you. At those speeds anything can happen and i don't care if you have seat belts/ air bags your pretty much gonna die. Do you even have tires on your car rated for those speeds. Is your life really worth wanting to know what your top speed is, i know mine isn't.

Im gona agree with this guy. If your gonna do it, dont do it with other ppl in your car man. At least do it by yourself. Im sure crashing at 130mph isnt fun at all

First of all sorry but anyone who does those speeds with two passengers is just asking for it... I mean its one thing to risk your own life with stuff like this, but not others.

I'll admit to 160 in my T/A but thats alone, and i actually have tires rated for 170+. I'm surprised this forum allows these threads and dosnt allow kill stories.

You do know speed has nothing to do with engine stress? 7k rpm in first is the same as 7k rpm in 5th.
